Giving to Good Sam’s of Garland

Yesterday, my family and I had the honor of donating food to Good Samaritans of Garland, or Good Sam’s for short. The mission of Good Sam’s is to provide food assistance to help families and individuals who are in need move toward self-sufficiency. The organization serves the cities of Garland, Rowlett, and Sachse.

Good Sam’s is an organization I first became aware of during the Garland Neighborhood Awards back in October 2018. Good Sam graciously hosted the awards at their downtown office. During the awards, I met Executive Director Pam Swendig. She showed my wife Katie and me around as our girls chased the cat around the office. After hearing from Pam, Katie and I knew this was something that we wanted to become a part of with our tithes and time.

Yesterday we made our first family delivery of food and supplies — something we hope to make a monthly occurrence. It was so great getting our girls involved and showing them the value of serving their community at such a young age.
