Meet Dylan Hedrick
Hello my fellow Garland neighbors,
My name is Dylan Hedrick, and I am running to be the 38th mayor of the City of Garland. My purpose is simple: I want to improve lives and communities in Garland. Building upon the progress we have made over the past several years, I will be a leader who will keep Garland moving ahead.
As a native Texan who moved to Garland in 2015, I immediately fell in love with the city and its people. The diversity of cultures, perspectives and ideas make Garland an ideal place to live and raise my family. I am a family man dedicated to my wife Katie, who is a professor of mathematics at SMU, and to my two daughters and my son.
I am a registered professional civil engineer (TX #102108) who works for a local engineering firm. I earned my BS in Civil Engineering from Rice University in 2004, then returned to earn my MBA from Rice in 2011.
Upon moving to Garland, I immediately joined the Oakridge Neighborhood Association (ONA) board as the Communications Director writing the neighborhood newsletter. I was elected President of the ONA in 2017 and was soon appointed by then District 7 representative and current Mayor Scott LeMay as the District 7 representative of the Plan Commission that same year. I chaired the 2018 Garland Bond Study Committee and have served as the District 7 council representative for the past six years.
Beyond the City Council, I serve as a Sunday school teacher and usher at St. Joseph Catholic Church, volunteer with the Knights of Columbus, and deliver for Meals on Wheels. In my free time, I enjoy running around my neighborhood, playing my guitar, and watching my daughters on the soccer field.
I am the leader who can build consensus with fellow council members as mayor to keep the city moving towards prosperity. As the District 7 council representative for the past six years, I have a proven track record of working with city officials and listening to citizens. I am a person of unquestionable integrity who only wishes to serve his community to make it a better place to raise my family. As your next mayor, I will help guide Garland on the path to progress, a path in which all residents and businesses can thrive.
I invite you to reach out to me personally as we work together to make Garland the best place to live and do business in the Metroplex. Please contact me by phone at (469) 560-6099 or by email at dylan@hedrickforgarland.com.
I serve to improve lives and communities by building trust and relationships in the City of Garland and beyond.
